This Weekend’s Play For Your Club Action: 17/18 Oct 2009

Thank God the international break is over. It’s back to the hard fought domestic season, so here’s our pick of the matches from each of the leagues on PFYC.

Starting with the Premiership then, all the games had around double the usual time to reach their conclusion thanks to the internationals. This led to some pretty exciting games, but none as spectacular as Aston Villa’s win over Chelsea. It may seem weird to say there were only 4,000,000 points in it, but when the final score was Aston Villa 282,466,675 Chelsea 278,074,225 you’ll appreciate it really was anyone’s game.

Moving into The Championship, there were even more close games, but the highlight has to be a battle between two mid-table teams: Peterborough and Bristol City. Peterborough just managed to edge it, winning by 21,605,150 to 20,445,900.

Carlisle’s high-scoring win over Norwich City was the pick of League 1. Mid-table Carlisle managed to beat their play-off chasing East Anglian rivals by 48,088,550 points to 46,790,650.

The closest match was left to League 2 though, where the newly wealthy Notts County just had the edge over Rotherham, managing to win by less than 100,000 points. The final score was Rotherham 7,349,450, Notts County 7,441,750.

Some great matches being played this week – our pick of the lot are Liverpool v Man United, West Brom v Swansea, Millwall v Leeds, and Macclesfield v Dagenham & Redbridge. The last of those could be particuarly juicy, as the clubs occupy the bottom two placs in League 2 with just 3 wins between them. Bring it on!

Play For Your Club is Mousebreaker’s Massive Multiplayer Volleys Game. Fans of every English league club score as many volleys as they can, with their score added to the club’s cumulative total for that week. The number of points that scored decides whether they beat that week’s real world opposition.

  1. I stopped watching after 3-1, and then came back to the TV to see Lambrad score the 7th Goal. Disgrace
