Weekender: What We’re Working On…
We’ve been working on a big game for quite a while – we’re getting loads of requests for an updated Flash Soccer Manager, but soon we’ll be bringing something far more ambitious.
No more details now, but here’s an (early) screenshot to whet your appetite. The graphics and appearance may change, but the gameplay is beginning to take shape…

Will you be able to make transfers and go on for more than one season?
@Riddle – We’re hoping to release the game before Christmas, but it depends if we run into any problems. It’s a pretty ambitious game for us to make in Flash!
@Clyde – Yep, that’s one of the features we’re hoping to put in there.
This looks brilliant, very ambitious – any ideas on what the matches will look like or is that being kept secret?
@Tom – Not yet. We’re experimenting with a few different things, but had to scrap one because it was just a bit too ambitious…
when will we be able to play on it cos it looks really good can you buy players on it that is the only thing missing
cannot wait looks amazing just by the screen shot i play flash soccer manager 10 still all the time not for long though
@Josh – We’re aiming to launch it before Christmas, but given how ambitious the game is (we’re really pushing flash’s data storage limits with this one!), there’s a chance it will be later. You should be able to buy and sell, players, yes.
@Craig – The early test I’ve been playing is very good indeed, the real game should be amazing.
i hope it comes out before christmass. i have been checking the website for months to see if a new soccer manager is available and today i have finaly found out that soon there will be a new one with transfers to yes…
Lookin good, what was the problem with the old soccer manager games though?
lucas: it got boring three or more years in a row with the same layout just player updates i agree the old soccer manager is good but with transfers now and more than a year to manager a club it will be so much better

Will you be able to manage like teams other then the english teams.
@Sean – Afraid it will just be Premiership teams to manage – the data inputting for players was taking too long for a first version!
Can you change clubs?
Hi, can we manage Italian ore Spanish teams and not only English teams?
@AJ – Probably not in this version, no – but we’re aiming to make this something which expands each year. This is just the first version.
@Meriton – Afraid not in this version. There are limits to how much data we can put in (and how much time I can spend filling stats into spreadsheets for)…
Is there going to be like red and yellow cards?
@Isaac – Yep, should all be in place.

will this game then be like flash soccer manager where you will have a next version for next year?
And will the keeper always stay at the left side? I hope not, because its not realistisk. The keeper should stay in the middle of the goal.
will certain clubs have a bigger budget than other for instant manchester city will have more than west brom and can your team get relegated and play in the championship ????
@Akshay – We’ve built it in such a way that updates and changes should be possible every year, budget permitting.
@Meriton – Not sure I quite understand, but we’re moving to a text match commentary in this version for more realism
@Craig Rayner – Club budgets may be adjusted so that bigger clubs aren’t super easy, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. If you’re relegated, then it’s game over – we’re limited in the amount of data we can put it (both in terms of Flash, and man hours entering it all), but a handful of Championship clubs will appear each season…
is there yet a hopefull date for the game to come or are you just confident it will be after or before christmass
@Craig – Looking very doubtful to be before Christmas now. There’s just too much to be finished and then tested before we can be confident it’s bug free.

@Roki – Read the comments above and the more recent blog post. We’ve already accepted we weren’t going to make Christmas and that was only a best guess anyway. No intention to lie here at all…
@Craig – January I’d guess, but it’s been a while since I’ve spoken to the developer.
Basically, we had a choice over whether to release it in December but cut features, or make it as polished as possible by holding it back to January – it’s a shame that we missed 2010 release, but it’s for the best possible reasons!
Is there any chance of this version of football management incorporating competitions such as the F.A. Cup and League Cup, or will it concentrate solely on the league season?
@David Yes! The game currently has the FA Cup, as well as a European trophy…

Will there be new players like augero for man city and can you do foul throw ins and if your reglated can you play only in the championships then game over

And Champions League on the game, I find you need make group stages know outs and tell us more about the match like if its home and if its semis ect, thanks
